The Yoga of Song – A Workshop with Parvathy Baul
October 6th 2018 | 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. | Matrika House, Portland, ME, US
Spend a morning immersed in the song, stories, drums, and dance of the Baul tradition.
Parvathy Baul, one of the preeminent Baul practitioners in the world, comes to Maine to share music, philosophy, and spiritual insights of this ancient Indian heritage.
The Baul tradition is one of devotion (bhakti), expressed primarily through music and movement. It has its origins in rural Bengal and is a syncretic mix of Hindu, Buddhist and Sufi devotional practices.
Discover why the Baul’s are referred to as the “Honey Gatherers,” divinely intoxicated bards seeking the nectar of authentic devotion.
